User interface

The nxmBackup user interface can be opened with any common, modern web browser. If there is no icon for opening the interface on the desktop, it can be opened in the default settings via this link: http://localhost:8008

When you open the web interface, a login dialog is displayed.

To log in, you must enter the credentials of a local administrator. A local standard user is not sufficient for this. A domain user can also be used as long as this user has local administrator privileges.

After logging in, the main menu opens. The most important general functions are accessible from here (see red numbers within screenshot):

  1. Listing of configured backup jobs. Clicking on such a job opens its details. After the first login, this list is still empty.
  2. Clicking on this “+” button opens the dialog for creating a new backup job.
  3. Clicking on the “gear” symbol opens the general settings menu.
  4. By clicking on “Logout” the nxmBackup user gets logged out and the browser window can be closed. Backup jobs still run in the background, even without a logged in user.

Job details

  1. “Start job now” button: If a job should be started manually immediately, this button can be used. If the job is currently running, this button has no function. Attention: A disabled job can also be started with this button.
  2. “Edit job” button: This button can be used to edit the currently selected job and adjust its settings.
  3. “Disable job” button: If you no longer want a job to run according to the set schedule, this button can be used to suspend the schedule for the currently selected job. Clicking this button again will reactivate the job and its scheduling.
  4. “Delete job” button: Clicking this button deletes the currently selected job and removes it from the configuration. Attention: The backups that have already been created will not be deleted from the set destination.
  5. Restore button: Clicking this button opens a new window with options for restoring backups that have already been performed.
  6. The status line (green) shows information about the last execution of the job. If this should have failed, this line turns red. If the job is currently being executed (yellow pulsing), current information about the execution is displayed. Further details on the last execution can be called up by clicking on “Last run details”.
